Irish Maths
I used to walk an easy pathway
Secure and predictable
I find myself on a thin wire
Without a safety net
I had two ropes to hang on to
To prevent me from falling
I burned the first with gasoline
And cut the second in two
I feel so scared and insecure
Fearing the wind, looking down
Can’t see the end of the wire
Losing balance, I can’t go on
Just wait a second now
I chose this way on my own
I must enjoy the excitation
And laugh at the face of danger
Oh sure, I might fall down
What will I do if I get hurt?
I’ll bite the bullet in a frown
Climb back up and start it all over
